June Knightly Death Reason
June Knightly was a victim of one such phenomenon. A horrific act has been committed that led to June’s end: a hate crime. As we watch her story unfold, hope she will not just be a victim but also an example to millions in the world, and most importantly: live on as a powerful motivator for change. On Saturday, an anti-fascist protester named Jeremy Christian stabbed two men, one of whom was a Muslim man. In the aftermath, being an open supporter of Donald Trump, Christian carried on by shouting anti-Muslim slurs into a megaphone and slashing the throats of two Muslim passengers. On May 29 when the Womxn’s March for Justice started in Portland and was supposed to continue on to Vancouver.

Jeremy Christian was there with his hatchet to stop it. June Knightly was a 28-year-old protester of the far-right group Patriot Prayer who was shot dead by the Portland Police Department after he reportedly refused to put down his gun. The event sparked a large uproar and the police were put on trial for the shooting. June went to the rally of Patriot Prayer in September 2017 and was shot dead in front of her two young sons at around 10:30 pm. At the rally, Patriot Prayer had organized a march through downtown Portland.
