South Korea Flood Incident

Until now government officials have reported that there were seven people discovered dead. A teen who was 13 years old was seen stuck inside a basement of a building and along with her, there were two adults as well. The three of them were reported to be dead. Apart from that, six others were reported to be missing. Since 1904 this is the first time that the rain has hit the worst and the rains which were recorded to be ending in two days have not stopped until now and it is the worst flood hit in years. 381.5 millimetres of rain have been reported by the weather reports and it is in southwestern Seoul on Monday, 8th of August. The same incident occurred back in 1920 when the rainfall was measured at around 354.7 millimetres which also fell in the capital city of the Country.

Pictures and videos of people getting through water and also various areas getting hit with the worst floods were reported in various Seoul areas. A picture went viral on the internet where a man in a suit was seen sitting on a car top which was half submerged in water and the rain was pouring continuously. President Yoon Suk-Yeol wrote in a Facebook post that the life of the citizens is precious and nothing is more important than that. President also said that the government is looking forward to managing the heavy rain situation with the central disaster safety measures. Several areas were blacked out and people living in the basements and lower areas of the city were asked to evacuate the localities as the water is getting filled.

While the Korea Metrological Administration generated an alert on Monday that some areas might even receive 50-100 centimetres of rain. Eastern South Korean provinces were also warned with heat advisories. A teacher from Anyang In Gyeonggi province of South Seoul revealed that he saw first floor resident of one building removing water as the water was getting in. While the intense rainfalls might have occurred due to high temperatures and global warming as well. As a warmer atmosphere will evaporate more water and it will also result in higher measurements of rainfall in some areas. Currently, South Korea is in floods, especially in Seoul.
